My subscription for Creative Cloud had lapsed (thought it was an automatic renewal). When I renewed it, CC updated and because I still use Windows 7 Pro, Lightroom CC is no longer compatible. My Lightroom files are stored on a portable hard drive. When I try and open the latest catalogue in LR Classic, LR thinks it's still open in LR CC and won't let me access.
I tried opening it using LR CC on another PC which has Windows 10, but get the same message. I don't really want to change to W10 on my main PC because I have older software still in use that won't be compatible with W10.
Any suggestions?
It looks like Lightroom crashed, or at least did not quit properly the last time. That is why you see so many temporary files as well. Look for a file called Lightroom Catalog 2016-2-2.lrcat.lock (don't confuse it with the catalog file without the .lock extension). I don't see it in the screenshot, because it's probably hidden by the error dialog. Trash it and try again.

Can you post a screenshot of the error message?
And for clarity, when you write LRCC, are you referring to LR Classic CC, LR 2015.x, or to Lightroom CC, the 1 year old cloud-dependent program?

Hi John,
LRCC = Lightroom CC the cloud-dependent version, which now requires a version of Windows 10. LR Classic CC is still compatible with Windows 7 and can open an earlier version of my catalogue but it's doesn't have any images imported after a certain date.
Chris
