catalogue corrupted following v10 update....

Now, LR can't differentiate between C drive and my external hard drives.... Photos that I imported this week are gone from LR Folders which won't read my C Drive. I'm a photographer - not an IT technician. I am so fed up encountering a glitch like this every couple of years.... I now have my catalog and 5 others (v10) generated by LR and I STILL can't get to my photos. And, I'm getting more irrate my the minute which is not helping finding a solution.
