So new to Lightroom universe, I downloaded Lightroom instead of LRC. Now I am stuck with a bunch of folders that Lightroom downloaded for me....
Applications
Documents
Desktop....you get the picture.
I downloaded LRC after a technician explained to me why I was not seeing what LRC users see. I really want to delete Lightroom, but would very much like to transfer the images trapped there into LRC. First problem is the directions indicate I should see a minus sign to indicate delete....nope.
Then I should have a hard drive with sufficient capacity to HOLD ALL THOSE IMAGE files in one gulp. I actually do, but thanks to Lightroom I will spend hours sorting them, then loading into LRC, apparently one at a time since the migrate from button does NOT appear in LRC.
Why did Adobe do this to first time buyers of their Lightroom plans?
To comply in hopes of getting some results out of this morass:
Lightroom vers: 8.0 LRC vers: 14.0.1
Mac OS 15.1.1
Described above
Expected to EASILY delete folders NOT to be migrated and or a relatively SHORT TIME (under 6 hours) migrate selected images and remaining folders from Lightroom to Lightroom Classic.

I don't get the picture at all. Applications, Documents and Desktop are MacOS folders. Lightroom did not create them. Depending on how much you did with Lightroom before you decided you wanted to switch to Lightroom Classic, you'll have the Lightroom application that you can uninstall from the Creative Cloud app, and the Lightroom Library inside your Pictures folder. So what other folders are you seeing that you contribute to Lightroom and that you would want to delete?

Johan, I never said Lightroom created them, Lightroom downloaded them INTO LIGHTROOM. They are not picture folders, they are the standard folders set up in MAC OS. My point was they never should have BEEN downloaded into Lightroom OR Lightroom Classic. That said, the difficulty I am having is REMOVING those folders and others from Lightroom, that do not contain photos either in need of editing or not. All I want to do is export pictures that I DID import into "Lightroom" before discovering I should have downloaded Lightroom Classic and import them into LRC now. UPDATE: I am unable to copy the catalog of Lightroom from within LRC because I am told it is the active catalog.
But thank you for replying.

To remove a folder from Lightroom Classic, right-click on it and choose 'Remove Folder'.

I'm sorry, but I have no idea what you mean with this.
