New Here ,

even though I select for it to copy then paste all masks, it doesn't. Instead of  being given the option to update the masks, the only option is to delete them. It will not copy & paste masks...

Hi @desiree_85,

Sorry for the delayed response. The behavior you’re seeing usually happens when Lightroom can’t recognize the same features (like eyes, lips, or face outlines) in the target photo. For example, in your screenshot, it shows “Unable to select lips in this photo”, so the pasted mask has no reference and can’t be updated, only deleted.

A couple of things you can try:

  • Update Lightroom to the latest version to ensure you have the newest masking improvements.

  • Test with different photos. If the subject is smaller in the frame, turned away, or partially obscured, some masks won’t copy over.

  • Instead of pasting all masks, try copying only the more general ones (like “Select Subject” or “Background”); these tend to transfer more reliably.

  • If the issue persists across all photos, reset preferences (Help > Reset Lightroom Preferences) and test again.

If possible, could you share a small screen recording and copy and paste the system info from the Help menu? That’ll help us narrow it down.

Best,

Anshul Saini
