Disc Error message when trying to transfer NEF file from Lightroom to Photoshop 2025

When selectiing 'Edit in Photoshop 2025' in Lightroom PS is saying it is unable to ppen the NEF file due to a disc error.   I can access the same file from Photoshop directly from the external hard drive - is there a known problem?

Is this happening with all NEF files, or just specific ones? Also, which version of Lightroom are you using?
