Don't want Lightroom to make a copy of the original when I import a new photo

Hi there. I have an issue with lightroom copying photos that are already on my Harddrive (in sorted Folders) and wasting space on my Harddrive. I don't want to you "Move" while importing, because that would kill me initial folder structure. Is there a way to stop Lightroom from copying? I just want my photos in the initial folder on my harddrive and edit them in Lightroom - not let Lightroom trash my work.

Thanks

Sounds like you should consider Lightroom Classic, rather than Lightroom. Lightroom stores your photos in the cloud, it doesn't edit your local photos. It makes a copy during the initial upload to make sure the photo isn't moved or trashed by the user before it was uploaded, but in the end it does not use the local copy. Lightroom Classic works with locally stored photos, just like you ask.
