Hi Frl,

As there are two variants of one image importing into Lightroom could you please follow the steps mentioned below:

  • From the Lightroom Classic CC main menu, choose Edit > Preferences (Windows) or Lightroom Classic CC > Preferences (Mac OS).

  • In the General preferences, specify the following import options:

Treat JPEG Files Next To Raw Files As Separate Photos

For photographers who capture raw + JPEG photos on their cameras. Selecting this option imports the JPEG as a standalone photo. If selected, both the raw and the JPEG files are visible and can be edited in Lightroom Classic CC. If deselected, Lightroom Classic CC treats the duplicate JPEG as a sidecar file, and the raw file appears with the raw file extension and +jpg.

Also, please let us know the exact version of Lightroom and operating system you're working on?

Regards,
Sahil

Good morning Sahil.Chawla,

thank you very much for your answer. Unfortunately this doesn't fit for me, because I've only Adobe Lightroom CC (Cloud based version). In this programm I have not the opportunity to change the settings which you describe. But I noticed, that my mistake was, that I had the wrong pre-settings in my camera. So luckily my problem is solved.

Thank you!

Good evening,

I have the same suggestion to extend the settings in Lightroom CC (Windows 10) for importing only raw-flies without jpeg, if you have both. I take a pictures with a Huawei P20 Pro and this saves, e.g. Raw + Jpeg. (Unfortunately, there is still no support of Lightroom for this smartphone).

Here it would also be a very good extension if Lightroom CC recognizes a raw and a associated jpeg file and prefers at the import the raw-file instead of the jpeg. As already discussed, this would save space and extra work.

For the import via the DSLR, I am currently still using Lightroom Classic, there is this feature already available for a long time. Due to integration to the cloud, the pictures can be exchanged later on. Of course I could also import the pictures from the smartphone via Lightroom Classic, but then the app lightroom cc misses their application.

Best Regards

Adrian
