Hi, since I have the new iPhone 16 Pro the Lightroom mobile app won't load any new pictures I take with the phone. It only says: photo can not be loaded. Error Code A100000. dng_error_unknown - ReadNegative SmallOriginal.

All the pictures I took with the old phone or new ones sent to me via WhatsApp etc still load just fine.
Does anyone know how to fix this? Thanks so much!

Hello @charlotte_2679

Are the image you are trying to import captured by the iPhone 16 Pro, or captured by another camera?  The error code you mention indicates the Lightroom's Camera Raw library is having trouble with the images, and this doesn't usually happen if the image type / camera is known.

Are you updated to the latest LR iOS app version 10.1 (or newer)?

If you are a user of the free app, I would not recommend deleting the app to try re-install.  Deleting the free LR app will also delete images that exist inside the LR app.

Instead, please try offloading the Lightroom app, and then restoring it.  This will preserve the app cache, while re-installing the app.  Here is how do offload/restore Lightroom iOS:

  1. Open Settings > General > iPhone Storage
    2. Scroll down, select Lightroom, and tap Offload App
    3. Tap Offload App again to confirm if necessary

Then to restore/re-install Lightroom:

1. Go to Settings > General > iPhone Storage

2. Find Lightroom, and then select Reinstall app

Please let us know if this helps, or not

Hi @Charlie.D, thanks for the reply!

Yes, this concerns all the photos captured by the iPhone 16 Pro.

I am updated both to the newest iOS and LR App.

I tried offloading and reinstalling the App like you suggested, but it didn't fix the problem. Do you have any other suggestions?

Hi again @charlotte_2679

Are these images actually on your local camera roll, or are they in iCloud?  It shouldn't matter, LR should still be able to fetch iCloud photos on demand. But if that doesn't happen smoothly due to a poor connection, then I wonder if that could cause this.

I have the same device, and cannot reproduce this, so I'm hoping to get more clues about how your app got into this state.

I will send you a separate message asking for a diagnostic log.

Please confirm the app version you are using.  Is it 10.0 or newer?
I see indications you may be using a very old app version 9.0 from over a year ago.  That could be the problem.

Hi again @Charlie.D ,

weird things going on here 😄 I again tried to offload and update the app twice, this time it seemed to make a difference.

The images can be imported now, but are instantly way too bright, the colors distorted somehow. So, one step in the right direction, but still not really able to work with LR again.

Hello @charlotte_2679

Apologies for the slow reply.  I am away from work on a winter break.

Can you confirm the specific app version you have installed?  tap the 3-dots button at the top right of the Lightroom app to open Settings > About

The reason I ask is that I believed the most recent app update version 10.1.1 included a fix for the image appearance issue you mentioned.

The error code means the image type is unknown.  Before we officially shipped support for iPhone 16 with our v10.0 release in October 2024, Spatial photos from the new iPhones would fail with this error.  This should no longer be an issue for any new imports with LR v 10.0 or newer.

Strangely, I have an iPhone 16 pro, and cannot  reproduce any trouble with the various image types the camera can create.

@charlotte_2679 , @melanie_6448 , I will send you a direct message asking you to share sample images that fail to import, and give you an address where to send them.  I'm hoping that by seeing images from your devices that we'll understand the problem.

Hi @Charlie.D ,

happy new year! Like I wrote, the trouble with the import of the images is fixed now on my iPhone.

But I still have the problem with the overly bright look, once they are imported. I know the newest update should have fixed this, but I have  version 10.1.1 installed and the problem still exists on my phone.
