Export from Lightroom continuouly freezes

Hi

Every time I try to export orignal to a new location lightroom with stall the copy. This can happen after copying 50 files or 500. The system will stay stalled for over 12 hours so it is not an issue of just waiting for it to restart. Cancelling the export with the x next to the progress bar allows me to try again. if I keep repeating the files will eventually copy after 5 plus attempts.

I am using light room Desktop (not classic) on my Mac M1 max everything is fully upto date for MAXOS and lightroom. I have disabled the graphics card in preferences and restated the laptop several times.

Thank you for your help

David

Hey, @Davet63. Welcome to the Lightroom community. I'll help you figure this out.

What version of Lightroom & the macOS are you working on? Are you exporting images to the internal or external drive?

As a basic troubleshooting step, ensure Lightroom has the required permissions on the macOS:

https://community.adobe.com/t5/lightroom-classic-discussions/quick-tips-how-to-give-full-disk-access...

Try these steps:

  • Create a test album in Lightroom.
  • Right-click on the album and save the album locally.
  • Export from this album.

Let me know how it goes.

I have found a work arround if you use the custom export and select originals it works well. if you select the option for original export it will stall arround a few hunfred photos.

When you are using Cloudy Lightroom and exporting originals for that many files, you have to be really sure about your network connection working well because it will hang if there is an interruption in connectivity. It shouldn't but it can be an issue. How confident are you of the connection? Are you on wifi or an ethernet connection (definitely preferred)? How good is your internet connection?

I have a very good internet connection with download speed of 300MBS. I think the connection is very stable but can not be sure. I connect via wifi.

I'm not sure this would explain the problem as I see the error far more frequently when I select export orginal vs custom export original. Which I assume is the same thing.

If you can, try to export while on a direct ethernet connection to test. It is possible you have interference at some times from things like microwaves, neighbors wifi, etc. You can also see if changing the frequency of your wifi access points makes a difference. I would also expect that export originals is the exact same process whether you directly select it from the export button or from the custom dialog so indeed weird you see a difference but could be coincidence.
