File could not be found!

Hi! 
I imported old photos that I has digitized from an external drive.   Th year are in the library but when I try to develop the message is "file could not be found".    I tried following directions to correct but could not find the link to Mossi g photos.  Please advise!   Thank you!

Sorry that you cannot develop images you imported from an external drive in Lightroom as you're getting an error message "the file could not be found".

Which version of Lightroom are you using an what is your OS?
