Files Cannot Be Moved to the Trash Folder

Please help!

I have a brand new MACBook Pro M2 chip, with over 1TB of hard drive space. 

I have imported files from my Fuji XT4 and after marking files for deletion from the disk I get the following error:

"There were (however many were selected) files that could not be moved to the trash foler"

 I have emptied the trash, I have checked permissions on all folders. This has never happened! If I can't edit my files then this app is useless to me.

Very frustrated and cannot seem to find a current solution for the problem. Have also made sure all software is up to date.
