Hi, there are a few questions on this forum about the lack of geotagging function in Lightroom Desktop (CC), but I just wanted to check there was no way to use a 3rd party app like GeoSetter to write the geo data into the XMP settings files externally. The reason I believe this is not possible is that although I can tell Lightroom Desktop to sync the original RAW files to my desktop, the XMP settings files are not stored with them, so a 3rd party geotagging app like GeoSetter cannot add the geo data to be read back into Lightroom Desktop.
Is that correct? I am not missing anything? If not I think I need to continue to use Lightroom Classic (but either cough-up for more storage or accept I need to continually move things around to free up space).

That is correct, sorry. One trick, if you shoot with a phone at each location, you can then copy the co-ordinates to other photos using the cloud desktop version. How useful that is will depend on your workflow, of course.
