help re installing

Just bought new laptop but having grief loading my upgrades from physical lr 4 to downloaded 5 and 6 paid for them and had on old pc but have deactivated  on there but installed lr 4 from disc but cant get upgrades on ? any help would be much appreciated

"new laptop"  Mac?, PC?, Operating System NUMBER?  (Mac Catalina will not install obsolete versions!)

Do you have the Serial Numbers for all versions?

Do you have the 'Downloaded' Installer files for 5 & 6?

What does "cant get upgrades" mean? Any error messages?

Sorry its been a long day ,it’s a dell laptop running windows 10 when I say upgrades I bought upgrades from my original disc version 0f lr 4 electronically I have uploaded the lr 6 but my serial numbers arnt working it states this version is not loaded on this pc ? I presume ive got to download in order 5 to 6 but it wont let me download 5 it states this program is not available at the moment try again or contact support ?

If you have your serial number you should be able to download Lightroom 6 from the link below. It will be LR6.14, the final version of Lightroom 6.

I upgraded lightroom 4 to 5 electronically then later to lr 6 the same method so my serial numbers are for upgrades so I downloaded as suggested lr 6 from your link but when I put my serial number in it says not on this pc ?

when i click on my purchased lr 5 in my account to download it states

Whenever you install an 'Upgrade' version of the standalone Lightroom, the installer searches for a previous version installed in your system. If it cannot find v4 or 5 installed you must first enter the Serial Number for v4 or 5 before the v6 install continues and asks for your v6 Serial Number.

So you do not need v4 installed, but you DO require the v4 Serial Number to prove your ownership of the pre-existing version.

 

So your procedure (as I see it! but do not remember the exact dialogs.) would be-

1. Download v6.14 from the 2015 Apps-(Note THIS IS Version 6.14 although it just shows v6)

2. Run this v6 installer

3. Enter your Version 4 or 5 Serial Number when asked for 'Previous Version'

4. Enter your Version 6 Serial Number

You should be good to go!

 

You may have "paid" for Version 6, but it was almost certainly an "Upgrade" version!
