DOes anyone have any suggestions ? I have restarted the MacBook a few times and that does not work. I am affraid to UNinstall the app dues to losing my saved presets.

Sorry that Lightroom desktop does not open on your MacBook after the recent app update.
Would you mind signing out of the Creative Cloud desktop app and sign back in to see if that helps? Restart your computer once you sign out and then sign back in.
