Lightroom 7 - edits lost when using image versions

I have just switched to LR 7, and am having issues when using image versions.

Whenever I create a version, all the edits get lost. If I edit an original, it is fine.

Is this a known issue?  I couldn't find it on the site

I have not seen any other reports of that. I attempted to follow your steps but could not reproduce your issue. Can you provide much more detail step-by-step instructions for reproducing this failure?

Hi Rikk

So these were my steps (I do have a video too, attached).  Maybe I am doing something wrong?

- created a version, named it v1

- for an easy edit, convert to B&W

- clicked away on another image.  Edit still showing as B&W

- went back in, Shift-V for versions, and selected v1

- image reverted back to the original

Thanks

Deb

I think you are misunderstanding how Versions work. They save the edits at that point in the edit - they don't create a new branch of edits.  When you went back the last time and clicked V1 you were telling Lightroom to revert to that version of the image as it was when you created the version.  The Black and White edit takes place after the save point (Version Created) and is, of course, discarded when you revert to the save point.

Thank you for the clarification. I had taken it to be the same functionality as creating a virtual copy. It's not very intuitive, especially as it allows you to edit the version.

Versions are more analogous to Snapshots than Virtual Copies.
