Lightroom Cloud 5.4 extremely slow (macOS 12.5)

Lightroom (Lr not Lrc) runs extremely slow on my iMac 2019 (i9 64GB Vega 48). Almost all operations will get stuck. The rainbow-colored spinning wheel always appears for at least 10 seconds then I can do the next move.

LrC on this Mac works well and smooth. Lr on my iPad and iPhone are buttery smooth. There are about 10000 photos in LrC while only 400 photos in Lr. Both Lr and LrC are newest version (5.4 and 11.4.1). macOS Version 12.5

I have tried to uninstall the Lr and RE-install it. Does not Work.

Please HELP!

Hi there,

Sorry to hear about the slowness of Lightroom. We're here to help.

Where are the images located? How much free storage space do you have? Since when are you noticing this issue?

Could you please confirm the type of images you are working with? Are they JPEG or RAW? Does the lag or slow performance appear after a series of steps, or does Lightroom seem slow since the launch? Have you tried any troubleshooting steps apart from re-installing the application?

You can try resetting Lightroom's preferences.

  1.  Press and hold the Shift + Alt keys.
  2. While holding down the keys, launch Lightroom. The following dialog box appears: Reset Lightroom Preferences. Click Yes.

Please backup your presets prior to resetting the preferences.

Let us know how it goes.

Thanks,

Ranjisha

Hi

All my images are RAW FIles stored in creative cloud. But there are copies of all the originals and smart previews in my local SSD.

It seem slow since the launch.

There is about 1GB (20GB Total) free in the cloud storage and 200GB free in my local SSD.

Resetting Lr's preferences does not work.

I just 'solved' the problem TEMPORARILY by down-grade to Lightroom version 5.3. It works well.

Please check if there are some bugs in version 5.4.

Thanks

OMG same! Since the last update!!! It's slowing down my editing time for my business. I went and deleted a TON of photos and that didn't help. Did you figure it out?

Hi there,

Thanks for highlighting this. We're here to help. Please provide a few more details on the trouble seen.

Where are the images located? Does the app slows down during a particular action or randomly? What is the file format of the images you're working with? Have you tried re-installing and resetting Lightroom preferences?

It may help if we could see your Lightroom System Info. Launch Lightroom, select Help >System Info, and copy/paste the text in a reply.

Thanks,

Ranjisha
