Lightroom crashing on startup

New Here ,
Dec 29, 2025 Dec 29, 2025

I tried to solve the problem now for several hours and am tiered of not getting any solutions.

Lightroom just crashes on startup with the EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION and basically says he cannot work with my gpus, because i have an rtx 4060 and i9 with uhd graphics build in. I asked AI first to help fix the issue but I did everything he told me to and still nothing is working. I already tried to uninstall and reinstall drivers, the program, creative cloud. Disabled the intel gpu, deleted cache and reset preferences and restarted my computer several times, checked my system files. I hope someone can help me and my pc runs windows 11 btw.

And if someone can tell me where to find crashlog files and not only the crashlog in the moment it crashes I can also post the crashlog here.

Hi, Lightroom seems to have problems with the GPU on some computers, and this can cause the program to crash at startup with the error EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION.
This can happen especially on systems with NVIDIA RTX GPU and Intel integrated graphics together.

You can try to:

  • Enable both GPUs again (Lightroom sometimes does not work well if one GPU is disabled)

  • Force Lightroom to use the NVIDIA GPU from the NVIDIA Control Panel

  • Try to start Lightroom with GPU acceleration turned off

  • Make sure Windows 11 is fully updated

I want to mention, that I already did all what you said (I tried to) because I am not able to get into lightroom and my preferences folder+file are not existing i cannot turn off gpu acceleration. Every way I tried so far to turn this feature off gave me the same error, so probably didnt turn it off.
