Lightroom export causing Mac to shut down

I am a photographer and have been using Lightroom for years. I recently completed the new update which I have been neglecting for a while. Now I am having trouble exporting more than 5 photos at a time as my computer will shut down. Is this a problem with lightroom or my computer/hard drive?
