Lightroom Mobile won’t sync AI masks between devices anymore

New Here ,

Hi Adobe team,
I'm using Lightroom Mobile on three devices with the same updated version, and I’ve been experiencing a serious issue: AI-based masks (like Select Subject or Select Sky) are no longer syncing at all between devices.

Previously, when I created a mask on one device, it would sync perfectly to the others. Now, not only do the masks not update — they don’t even show up as existing on the other devices. It’s as if no masks were ever created.

I've tried:
- Logging out and back in on all devices
- Forcing sync by making edits
- Duplicating the image
- Ensuring stable internet on all devices

None of these actions worked.

Please let me know if this is a known issue or if there’s a workaround, because this completely breaks the mobile workflow.

Thanks in advance.

Hi @esthela44091871u8un! Welcome to the community!

Could you double-check that you're correctly logged in to your Adobe ID on all of your devices?

Please also try logging into Lightroom Web and see if there are any sync errors. You can follow this handy guide to solve any sync errors: Solve Sync Errors.

Thank you!

Alek

Hello @esthela44091871u8un

You tagged both Mac and iPadOS for this issue.  Can you clarify your workflow, and share specific steps on how to reproduce this?

For example, which device imports the image, which device edits and applies Select Subject or Select Sky?  And can you confirm which device does not see the edits sync and display?

Also, like Aleke asked, does the Lightroom Web app at https://lightroom.adobe.com show the edits?

Hello, thank you for your response.

I use an iMac to import the RAW images — that’s my main workstation. I do the culling using AfterShot, and then import the selected files into Lightroom Classic. On the iMac, I apply presets and update the AI masks (such as Select Subject and Portrait Enhancements).

The edits, including the AI masks, used to sync almost instantly with my iPad (using Lightroom Mobile). On the iPad, I would fine-tune lighting and straighten the horizon. Those edits also synced with a second Mac, which is used for exporting and Photoshop work.

Lately, the masks still appear on the synced devices (iPad and second Mac), but they show as outdated or incomplete — I have to manually click “Update Mask” on each file. This didn’t happen before, and it’s disrupting the workflow.

This happens to me with EVERY photo I add an AI mask to on Windows when I load it on LR mobile on my Android phone. Every AI mask has to be manually updated.

@Charlie.D I can also reproduce this issue simply by copying and pasting any AI masks from one photo to another on LR mobile.

To clarify, the issue happens when pasting the mask to another image from the grid view, not if I paste while the image is open, in which case the masks are instantly recalculated as expected.

I'm having the same issue also. I upload all my raws onto a Dell G7 and that's where I cull. I edit a single photo from each series on lightroom mobile and then use that photo to batch edit the rest od the photos in each series. The air masks like subject will not sync over to lightroom mobile. Just the preset copies over from the batch edit. I have to go in and update the mask in every photo that I batch applied masks too. It's ruining my work flow completely. 😒

@Kyleigh_Milburn2538  same it is super frustrating because it will take forever to edit a large gallery!
