I have a very annoying problem when using my iPhone 8 together with the Lightroom Mobile software, which has occurred since maybe half a year/a year ago and is still is unsolved...
This is a problem which has occurred maybe half a year/a year ago and still is unsolved...
Problem description:
Every other time I turn on my iPhone 8 (which is always updated with the latest IOS version) to take DNG raw photos using the Lightroom Mobile app, the display is showing the full picture irrespectively if I will take an "upright' picture of e.g. a standing person or a tall building or a landscape panoramic view.
Ok then the pic is taken, everything is fine, I put the phone in my pocket and continue walking through the city...
Then, assume that 10 minutes later I am inspired to take another picture, say an awesome landscape (panoramic) view,
This is when the problem occurs: The view on the rear iPhone display, is tilted 45 degrees counter-clockwise or clockwise, and I have to tilt my head likewise 45 degrees counter-clockwise to be able to compose the picture!!! The same for vertical or horizontal pics!
! I want to compose and take the pic the NORMAL way!!! Why does the phone itself tilt and make the rear display view smaller in this tilted way at times? Without me having changed anything in the settings? Then suddenly, the next photo after a pause, it’s all back to normal again!!
At times I get so fed up that I take tilted composed pic anyway..., iPhone back into pocket and I continue walking. After having "cooled down my frustration" I try again, and surprisingly is the iPhone back to normal display function.
What am I to do? Throw my Apple iPhone in the garbage or select another software instead of Adobe Lightroom??

Hello
I am a bit confused and unsure what you are experiencing. It sounds like Lightroom's in-app camera is displaying the wrong orientation when you try to take a photo. I tried my own iPhone 8 with iOS 16.7.5, and the latest LR iOS app version 9.2.1, and both LR Camera's viewfinder display and also image capture orientations (landscape vs portrait) are consistently correct for me. And this works OK even if I have device portrait orientation locked from the iOS control screen.
If you are a user of the free app, I do not recommend deleting the app to re-install, as this will permanently remove any edited photos and presets you have installed/created. As an alternative, I recommend going to iOS Settings > iPhone Storage > Lightroom, and choose "Offload App." This will keep your account images and preset et all on the device, but remove only the app itself. Then choose "Reinstall App" and this should install a fresh copy of the app while maintaining your files etc. Does this help at all?
If I am completely missing the point, would you mind sharing a screen recording? Here is How To info: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT207935

I have tried to intentionally create the fault I complain about, but it's like going to the doctor for us humans: "...once arrived in the clinic, you've never felt better..."
Therefore I haven't been able to create a screen recording...but i do have screen shots, if that helps?
Last Friday nite, I was attending a jazz concert, took maybe 10-15 photos but I think that only once did the faulty display occur.
It is the most annoying when an interesting view/object suddenly occurs, and I've gotta hurry to get the.photo! Even if my iPone is switched on and ready to use, it does take some time to open up the Lightroom Mobile app and get the app shooting ready! I have lost quite a number of pics evver since this fault occurred. Is my iPhone to old ? (I need the raw (DNG) feature, or is the combination of the latest software version and my old iPhone 8 less compatible?
I hope that you can solve the problem - shooting raws with my phone is invaluably important!
Best regards

Ps. I might add another "snag" with Adobe Lightroo Mobile app: The shutter sound (a good feature oo) is sometimes on, somtetimes off without me selecting such a setting...
I would very much also be able to control shutter sound on or off...and that my selected setting remains until I choos to change that! Even if the phone is completely shut off in between!

To be extremely "tedious" an Adobe Account problem: I have change my e-mail address half a year ago, but it seem quite impossible to register a changed email address...it seem much easier to change password...
Just to be on the safe side, my old email address still works, but I would like to use the new one also when logging in!!
(Please re-direct this to the right people at Adobe's!)
Best regards

Hello @CanalogSE

Regarding the option to toggle on/off the camera sound in the Lightroom app, this is a nice feature request! For now, the LR camera obeys your device sounds/volume settings.
We'll keep our eyes open for the orientation problem you described, looking for reproducible steps. In the mean time, if this problem occurs again, I recommend exiting and relaunching the camera. Or if necessary, force-quitting the app and relaunching. To launch Lightroom immediately into the camera, try holding the Lr app icon on your device homescreen, and then choose Take Photo from the quick launch menu -- this will take you straight to the LR camera, saving you some time I hope!
