I shoot with a Nikon D800 using the usual SD / CF Cards and would load RAW files onto my iMac desktop to do the editing. Then I would synch the edited pics to LR Mobile mainly for viewing, sharing etc rather than any serious editing.
I recently bought the Nikon Z6 camera and have to use QXD Cards for that. I checked out the current Lightroom CC on iPad Pro and it appears to be very user friendly but doesnt have the same features as the desktop version. I cant find any references on the differences in functionality between the desktop and mobile versions even on the Adobe website.
I am planning to buy either the 2018 Macbook Air or the iPad Pro which are both new and have great reviews. I have read about some drawbacks with iPad Pro and LR - issues with importing RAW files directly into LR (have to go through Apple Photos), loss of some desktop editing functions, lack of compatible ports (one USB-C port), etc. Can someone provide advice on
1. Which device (iPad Pro vs Macbook Air) would be better for working with Lightroom CC?
2. Differences between the desktop and mobile versions of LR.
Have something to add?
