I am generally happy to have switched to Lioghtroom CC from Classic. However there are problems with the "Poeple" view: the representative image, proper identification, merging etc.
- The software doesnt always identify people in images at all. When this was pointed out on another forum an Adobe representative responded that there is no plan to be able to manually identify people as you can in LR Classic because they would prefer to make face recognition better. I applaud the desire to make it better, but there will always be the need for user involvement. Why can't both happen simultaneously? At least it would be a more useable product while facial recognition is improving; that will take years.
- The picture representing people is often non-sensical (attachemnt: upper left). This is not a face. I can't tell if it is even the correct person or not. And I have no way of adjusting.
- In people view, LR attempts to make additional matches, which is great. However, in the attched example the image from which it is asking me to decide is also non-sensical as it frequently is. And I have no way of opening that image, for context, to verify. Below is an example: I don't know what that center photo is referring to. Often the photo is not even a person, but a random area in the photo where a person might exist.

If you click a named person to open the stack, you can choose another image; then click the three dots menu (top-right) and choose to set it as the cover photo. It may need some experimentation to get the right image or make a specific cropped version of a face and import.
