Huge issue here.
The new iPad Pro's have up to 2TB memory, which mine has, which means that it is capable of holding a a lof of imagery.
But, iPadOS is using the mobile version of Lightroom, which means that the images you add automatically upload to the cloud.
This needs to be changed, to be made more like if a person was editing on a laptop, with the option to just import on the iPad and not upload to the cloud, where most people are limited with space.
Adobe needs to sort this out, as peoples workflows who are using iPad as a MacBook replacement, simply cannot be completely, and doesn't need to be, cloud based, Lightroom for iPadOS should be more like on a MacBook now.

As you point out Lightroom Mobile automatically uploads to the Cloud, this is by design as it's part of the Lightroom Cloud Based ecosystem.
Currently, the only option is to pause syncing and the best place to add feature request is in the following thread which is monitored by the engineering team.....
