lightroom wont let me export images

I was tethering images directly to a hard drive, this has crushed and now I can see images on Lightroom ,under all photographs but it wont let me export them, is there a way around it?

It is necessary to highlight (or select) the images that you want to export. Have you done that?

Yes, the images were originally shot tethered to an external hard drive, not to lightroom, the external hardrive has died.

Isn't this more of an external hard drive problem than a Lightroom problem? Did the images get transferred to the cloud?
