Local files after importing images

New Here ,
Oct 06, 2021 Oct 06, 2021

Hi,

is it normal that when I import in Lightroom (last version as of october 6th 2021) a lot of images stored on an external drive, Lightroom copy all the original files also on my Mac HD ?

In this case I found myself with a lot of GB occupied on both drives, and I have tons of duplicated images. too

Thanx a lot

Matteo Musazzi

First of all, images must be cached locally while they are being uploaded to the cloud so that you can have immediate access to them. Additionally, a backup copy can be stored if you choose to do so. And that backup can be what is being stored on the external drive.
