NAS question

Hi folks

I recently switched systems from an old iMac and direct attached external drive to a new 16" MBP and QNAP NAS. I am using this for both photography and video.  I have some weird behavior on the Lightroom side that I'd like to understand. In general working with the NAS has been more troublesome than the direct attached drive.

I have Lightroom preferences set up as follows

"Store a copy of all smart previews locally on Macintosh HD" is checked

"Store a copy of all originals at the specified location" is checked

Storage location for originals is a folder on my NAS "Volumes/media/Lightroom"

Here's the issue.  When I try and import using the "Connected Devices" option I get a failure.  If I use the "Browse" option, I can browse to the contents of the card and successfully import.  This was not an issue with the direct attached external device.

What am I doing incorrectly?
