New Computer, Latest Lightroom upgrade. Syncing to Cloud mandatory??

I do NOT want my photos to sync - to be in a cloud at all. Did they just take away my choice here? or is there a hack? Thanks.

Lightroom Desktop is Cloud-based and must sync with the Cloud.  Lightroom Classic will sync with Cloud but only if you instruct it to do so.
