Synch from Android to IPad No Longer Working Correctly

Community Beginner ,

* NB: This issue just started a couple of hours ago.

i take pictures using my Android Galaxy S25 phone and upload them to Lightroom Mobile (Premium V 10.4.1). They then synch to my iPad with Lightroom Mobile v 10.4.0. I've been doing this for years without issue. This afternoon that changed. The images look fine on my phone but on my iPad just appear as black squares (no image or detail available). If I go to the web it shows the images loading...but they never do.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled LR on both my phone & iPad. I've shut down the devices and restarted. I've cleared the cache. Nothing works.

Any help appreciated.

Hello @Margaret257358405mat

The advice in the link that Aleke shared earlier is best for troubleshooting: https://adobe.ly/43OENAm

use the LR Web app to clear out any images from "Sync errors" and let your Lightroom mobile app import and upload those images again.  Regarding your account, the server let me know there are errors like "asset can not be downloaded" which means the affected images did not finish successfully uploading.  You may need to remove the empty thumbs as you see them in LR

Hi @Margaret257358405mat, and welcome to the community!
Thanks for reaching out! Could you send us a screenshot of how the photos appear on your iPad? Are they showing up as black squares just in the previews, or do they open normally when you tap on them?

Also, it might be a good idea to check if there are any sync issues with your photos in the cloud. You can follow this guide to see if there are any sync errors: https://adobe.ly/43OENAm

Let me know what you find, and I’ll be happy to help further!

Hi

They appear as black squares. If I click on them, they remain as black squares (no preview) and do not show any preview or picture data. They do not open.

Thanks @Aleke

if I go to the cloud they are there but they just continue to load. They never actually open, nor can I see any kind of picture/preview. However, in the cloud, if I click on one of them, I will get the picture data.

Hi @Margaret257358405mat
Just to help us narrow things down—does this happen with every image, like photos taken directly with your iPad, or is it only affecting ones taken with your phone?

Also, could you let me know which iPad model and iPadOS version you're using? That’ll help us get a better idea of what might be going on.

Thanks so much!
Alek

iPad 3 version 18. I do not take pictures with my iPad. Yes, it happens to every picture. Just started this afternoon. Fine up to now.

If you are importing and syncing on your Android phone, make sure the app remains awake and running long enough to allow sync to complete.
