Trying to sort by shooting time

New Here ,
Oct 12, 2025 Oct 12, 2025

It's been a while since I shot any event while operating more than once camera at a time. I have two batches of images with quite different file names. I have done an internet search on how to organise them  into one stream that follows the event chronologically. All results seem to be pointing me to organise by capture time. However when I open Lr all I seem to be able to do is organise by capture date. Unfortunately this leaves the combined folder in the same way as before which all of one camera first and then the other.

Any advice or guidance would be very welcome..

Sounds like one of your cameras may be set to the wrong date or time. That happens a lot without people knowing it. It's easy to overlook that one camera is set to the correct date and time, and the other seems too, but is actually set to today's date and time in 2024...

Sorting by 'Capture date' means sorting by date + time, not just the date. Sorting by date only would mean that images have a random order within the same date, which is obviously pretty useless. Sorting by capture time only would mean that an image shot today at 10:00 AM would sort before an image shot at 11:00 AM yesterday. That would normally also be useless, so that is not how it works.
