P: Add Edit Guides button to Geometry Mode

I'm wondering if the guided upright tool works at all on iPhone (16Pro with the latest iOS). I guess I've tried all kind of approaches for it - and only once I was able to get the guides visible. With the auto option, the result is pretty OK but when I choose the guided variant I do not get those guides - except that one-time success! So, please let me know if the function is just that buggy, or is there something I don't figure out??? Thanks!

You might have found a problem, because I can see the same thing on my iPhone 15. I opened a photo that I know has existing Upright guides that I added, because I am looking at the Upright guides on the same image on my computer.

On my iPhone 15, when I open Crop and Geometry and tap the pencil icon to edit, I see no guides even though I can see them on the same image on my computer.

I did find a workaround: I tapped the Upright menu and even though Guided is already selected, I tapped Guided again, and for whatever reason, that makes the guides visible and now it matches what I see in Lightroom Classic on my computer. So try that.

Because I can see the same problem, a moderator might want to move this thread to the Bugs section.

OK, it must be a bug. - However, when I choose the guided option the action proceeds immediately (with no guides), and a word Upright, the plus symbol, trash and the option Done  appear. Choosing Done I can choose Guided again in the Geometry menu. When I here click the Guided option (white) the view dims and the Guided option turns in blue, no guides. After clicking the blue Guided I'm at the starting point from where it is possible to leave using Reset Geometry. So your workaround doesn't seem to work for me, unfortunately.

I am not seeing any issues on iPhone 14 Pro Max.

Access guides:

  1. Tap Crop
  2. Tap Pencil Icon
  3. Toggle on Upright
  4. Set pulldown to "Guided"
  5. Draw up to four lines on the image

I can draw new and access previously drawn guides both.

I have also confirmed it is working, as described above, on the iPhone 12 Pro Max.

I spoke with the iOS team and we do have a future enhancement planned to add a button for the Edit Guides in this mode.

Workaround:
If your guides are not visible, you can briefly toggle off the Upright button and toggle it back on to make them visible again.

Moving this to a feature request.

As I told, no trick works (iPhone 16 Pro with 18.2.1).

To clarify how it looks like a bug and how one workaround works, here’s a demo. This is on an iPhone 15 (not Pro).
