P: allow iPad track pad pinch to zoom to work in Edit modal states

I'm also having a big issue with regards to external track pad support in LR Mobile for iPad. Not so much as it doesn't work at all, because it does, but it does not work in any of the side personas such as within the Masking and the Remove personas. My Apple track pad works fine in the main persona, but as soon as you pop into another all pinch zooming is gone.

My work environment is as follows:

I have my M2 6th gen iPad Pro 12.9 plugged into an Asus ProArt display PA279CRV in the required keyboard configuration. I have my iPad docked in a Magic Keyboard folio with a Anker 565 11-in-1 USB C Hub. From there I have my ProArt disply hooked up VIA Displayport. I use all three external Apple Keyboard, Magic Mouse and track pad.

I just wish that one last thing I need the most would come in the next update, that there would be track pad support accoss all functions in LR Mobile for iPad regardless of what persona you are in.

Hi @jdbm photography! That's definitely odd. Has this worked correctly in the past and just stopped recently? Or has it never worked for you? Does it work with other tools like Crop or Preset? Have you noticed if other gestures are not working correctly, or is it just pinch and zoom?

@Aleke the only time the pinch zooming doesn't work is in other personas with in the Lightroom environment, it only works in the main view while adjusting things like Light, Color, Effects and so on.

So far, from what I have experienced, any "swiping" gestures outside of the main view don't work, but click and drag do work. Essentially, touch screen swipe guestures don't translate to the Apple trackpad, well at least the ones I require. For instance, in the "Masking" persona zero swipe guestures work, only click and drag. In the "Remove" persona the same thing, only click and grad works similar to the way a mouse would work. Also to add, and not overly important, there doesn't appear to be any swipe like abilities in the crop tool either. Essentially I want to be able to use my Apple Track Pad the same way I use swipe guestures on the iPad screen.

Lastly, this has always been an issue for me, it has never worked. I have read in past post that it has work for some in the past, but the validity of these claims are not certain.

Lightroom Mobile for iPad has so much potential, I just wish that with the level of technology these days that the desktop version can't be masked to be used the same way on an iPad. Other features like the full Calibration tab that everyone also want implemented, still isn't available. That being said, I have found quaint work arounds for this misfortune, but it would be nice to actually have a dedicated Calibration tool separate from the current Color tool.

Still though, I must say that even though there are some things missing from the desktop version, I do like the iPad version. I just miss some of the important things the desktop version has.

Any fixes and/or help with this matter would be greatly appreciated, cheers

I confirmed the behavior as you described with the same device/keyboard folio/external trackpad setup you have.  With the October 2024 v10.0 release, the LR team did improve trackpad support for the main loupe view.  You are correct that the same functionality is not yet extended into some of the modal edit views like Crop, Remove, Masking, etc.  

I filed an enhancement request with the developer team, but can't estimate when such work will be prioritize against existing plans for 2025.  When there is any update from the team, we will follow up on the thread here.

No problem @Rikk Flohr: Photography . Is there any word on other update/added options the community has asked for such as adding the Calibration tab to the iPad environment. Another honorable mention, and I would argue most wanted feature, is Exposure Blending/HDR/Pano Stitching option that the desktop version has. Any word on those options?
