Highlight clipping warning in camera no longer functional

As of 5.3, the highlight clipping warning in camera is no longer working. I've tried disabling and re-enabling it, changing from dng to jpg and back, force quitting and relaunching, and using different camera modes (pro, automatic, etc), and trying all of the different cameras.
