I have lightroom downloaded on my laptop and purchased a monthly plan.  When I try to add photos, the option is greyed out.  What am I missing to upload any photos?

Are you signed in with your Adobe ID and password? Are you connected to the Internet? What exact version of Lightroom are you using?

I am using Version 4.0.  It shows me to be signed in because it gives me an option to sign out.

Here's how it shows up. I click on the blue add photo and it moves me over to the top left but it will not give me the option to click because it's greyed out.

Jim, thanks for helping.  I signed out and signed back in and it works now.  I forgot I had changed my password.
