Custom Order in Lightroom

I've just updated everything in my creative cloud, and I've moticed that I can't re-order any of my photographs in the latest Lightroom? Has anyone else had this problem or is it just me. Im within the specific dated folder as I would do on the old lightroom and I've tried every view possible and nothing works.

Does it mean going forward that I will have to have export and then manual re-order everything outside of lightroom?

Thanks

Hi there,

Would you mind going to the "Help" menu in Lightroom, then "System info" and share the version of Lightroom you are using along with the operating system of your computer?

Would you mind sharing your workflow and how you wish to re-order the images? If you are using the Lightroom (cloud), you can use the custom order in Albums and not in dated folders.

Hi,

Thank you for the response.

The Lightroom version is :- Lightroom version: 3.1 [ 20191126-2330-434c343 ] (Nov 27 2019) This looks to me to be the latest most modern looking Lightroom. I can jump on Lightroom Classic, and that seems to work still.

And i'm using macOS Mojave 10.14.5

I essentially used to be able to import photographs from my SD card > Select all > Right click and-  Go to folder in library > Which then is a dated folder under my hardrive of when i took the images. After this I would usually 'star' my images to select them and then batch edit ready for export. Just before I export I drag and drop the images into an order im happy with so that I can re-name them during the export. And rename them to in a sequence. i.e 1, 2, 3, 4.... etc.

Whatever I try in the newest looking lightroom they will not drag into a new order.

Thanks

The workflow you described is for Lightroom Classic and not Lightroom (cloud). In Lightroom desktop, the images are uploaded to the cloud storage and are not stored locally in a folder structure like you see in Lightroom Classic. The dated folders you see in Lightroom, is just a way of sorting the images based on the capture date of the images. You can however, set a custom order to the images in Lightroom (cloud) in the albums.
