First of all, there are no "CC" versions anymore. There is Lightroom Classic and there is Lightroom. Lightroom Classic is more or less a continuation of Lightroom 6. It utilizes a local catalog, stores images locally on your computer but enables you to share images as smart previews in the cloud, and has many added features when compared to Lightroom 6.

Lightroom is the new cloud version that stores images directly to the cloud, and makes those images available to edit and access on all your devices. You can edit the images on any device, and the changes made on one device will affect the images shown on any other device. That's when everything works properly. It is NOT an upgrade or a replacement for Lightroom Classic. It is being developed completely separately and independently. It doesn't have all the features that Lightroom Classic has, and is really designed for a different type of user, one who (in my opinion) is more interested in sharing images with others via social media, etc. You can use both versions if you choose to, but it really isn't advisable to try to use them both on the same computer. It's best to choose one or the other as your primary application. Some of the things you cannot do with Lightroom is you cannot print, you cannot create books, you cannot have multiple catalogs, just to mention a few limitations.
