how much smaller does a file become when you export it as a jpeg from your raw file. My Nikon D4 take a 3280 x 4928 which is a 16 + mp but when I export it at 100% jpeg the file ends up around 6 mp to 9 mp is this normal or do I have something wrong. Note when I open it up in file explorer it shows the same size 3280 x 4928 but a smaller file.
No that's normal. jpeg is a lossy type of compression and will usually be smaller than a dng file which only uses lossless compression normally. Generally you don't need to be above 90% quality with jpeg to avoid visible quality loss.
