Hi Folks, my first post here...

I am editing my pictures on iPad 2020 12.9 with Lightroom 6.1.0 and after I've added manually tags and change photo fields. When I export... there is nothing there...

Help? Please see attachments,

I checked with every app that I have, normally I do heavy editing on Affinty photo and there is nothing there too...

Please help!

Some things to check:

In Lightroom on iPad, which method did you use for exporting?

  • Share > Share To
  • Share > Open In
  • Share > Export to Camera Roll
  • Share > Export to Files
  • Share > Export As

When I tried it using Export to Files, the caption and keyword metadata is present, and:

  • Not shown in iOS Files > Info
  • Shown in the EXIF Metadata app for iOS (very useful app by the way)
  • Shown in Affinity Photo for iOS in its Metadata Studio > File panel
  • Shown if transferred to a computer and viewed in Properties or Adobe Bridge

So one of the things you may be seeing is a limitation of metadata display in the Info panel in the iOS Files app.

Note: The Tags category in iOS Files is for Apple Tags only. Keywords added in photo applications do not show up in Tags, because Apple Tags are not compatible with IPTC keyword tags or any other standard metadata. Apple Tags are for general organization of any file type across Apple desktop and mobile devices.

Also, just to make sure: When I exported from Lightroom on iPad, the Export to Files settings had Include Metadata enabled as shown below. If Include Metadata is disabled, the metadata will not be in the exported file.

Does any of this help narrow down the problem? Because it looks like it should be working if set up properly and viewed properly.

Hi,

I've tried all the options, and I've verified the content in the JPG file in different OS's. I even tried to export in different file outputs (DNG,TIFF) but the result is the same.

The file that I generated on my iPad using all the methods you mentioned there is nothing into the file.

I used a command in Linux called "Strings" (I used to be a software engineer) and there is no content or a single word that I've typed.

I also tried to see the content using Linux, Windows and MAC OS X.

What I discovered is:

* all the changes that I've made ARE uploaded to Adobe cloud.

* If I use the WEB version it does export the information correctly

* If I use the WIndows version it also works.

Only in iOS and iPad OS doesn't.

I appreciate your response but I believe it's a BUG and should be fixed.

My opinion is the iOS version has some weird optimization related to the iOS file system (that IMO sux) and it's not well implemented.

Yes I am using the "metadata" turned ON 🙂

I just deleted the Lightroom app on my iPad (with 378gb with data) and reinstalled.

Maked my album to "local" and tested again, it doesn't work 😞

I work with LR since version 5 (2013) I know that Adobe takes some time to fix these "silly things 😉 I am used to this pain.

I don't know how to flag this a BUG or RFE.

Thank you for your support.

To reproduce the BUG is simple.

Get a JPG with EXISITING tags and title and description. Put into a album, upload to cloud (on any platform)

on iPad or iOS change the Title and Description and add some tags (my case 5).

Make sure it's on the cloud

Open on a Lightroom PC windows or Mac (I have both)

Export as any format (don't forget to check "Metadata")

Open windows files, click in properties (or Linux equivalent) and you'll see the change.

Now go back to your iOS/iPad OS, export to local/camera roll/app whatever...

send the file to a PC or MAC and check the content. It won't be there 😉

Done 😉

Please let me know what I could do to fix this. I've already:

* Removed the APP and deleted all data related to that

* Synched with my Adobe Cloud

Thank you!
