Hi,

When I import files into Lightroom they seem to be much smaller than the original file. This has only just started to happen. Not sure what is going wrong.

Any advice is gratefully received.

Thanks

Please give more details. What version of Lightroom? What OS? How did you check the file size in and outside Lightroom? Lightroom is a database. It does not contain the physical images, only a link to them. That means that your claim is probably based on a misconception.

Hi, I’m very new to this whole thing so bare with me. I’m am on on a plan
with adobe for lightroom. When I upload it it comes in with a very long
number which show as the bottom of the screen that I don’t recognise. Then
when I export them to a folder on my desktop the file is in KB instead of
MB.

When you export an image, you export in another file format like jpeg. Jpeg is compressed, so it is smaller. You can also change the size when you export, which could make it even smaller.

Yes I have kept it as full size and it is still smaller. Also it is coming
out with a number instead of the file number.

You need to learn about how Lightroom works. You probably export in jpeg. During export you can set the file name. The lightroomqueen.com is a good start.
