Help lightroom keeps jumping to all photos mode (four sqaures) when I am editing in detail mode.

Help lightroom keeps jumping to all photos mode (four sqaures) when I am editing in detail mode. I can't work out if it's something I am doing, but it's driving me crazy and I am getting nowhere fast! Can anyone help please?
