Hey folks,

I am hoping there is a quick solution I am just not seeing here - but using Lightroom CC 2020 nad I've got over 700 photos I am trying to sort through with my creative agency manager - she has 'starred' some photos that we shared in an album - but I couldn't see any star rating. So she gave me the names of the files and I can't even search for that file that way?
I am double-checking the pathway and making sure I am in the correct folder 0- even tried searching through every photo that's loaded into Lightroom currently - no luck.

Any ideas or pointers greatly appreciated - just running myself into circles right now (insert eye roll here)

Thanks in advance

Tom

Hi Tom If you click on the filter icon – see image – you should see a range of common search menus including star rating. You should also be able to find files by typing a file name directly into the All Photos search box.

Thanks 99jon, I realised after your message that the file name I was copying across wasn't how Lightroom had it!
But only after you prompting me - so thanks for the reply! I'm now using the star rating too narrow down my photos as well.
Cheers!

Unfortunately, filtering by file name in Lightroom Desktop does not work as expected, even with the latest version 4.0. The problem is the way that Adobe parses the text that's typed.

Here's an example: I have one file with the filename C0513C0034.dng. If I type that in the filter bar, I'd expect LR to return that file and nothing else. But in reality, it returns 72 results. None of these match this filename, but the do contain parts of it. One of the irrelevant results returned is H0513C0940.dng. You can see that it contains "0513C0" which for some reason, Adobe treats as a match for the filename I entered.

Adobe is aware of this strange behavior, but has done nothing about it so far.
