can one backup work done in NEW Lightroom CC to an external hard drive?

Hi,

You can opt to Store a Copy of all Originals on an external drive, but this is a mirror of what is in the Cloud (the Cloud is the ‘truth’ and the purpose of these local copies is mainly for a quicker access to them).

If you require a set of photos not to be cloud based and be independently backed up from Lightroom Cloud, then this is not possible.

Lightroom Classic would be a better option in this case.
