Lightroom didn't work properly today so I uptated to the newest version and it's still not responding and there is a message saying, unable to connect to network, maybe this is the problem?

Had the same issue. I had the option of saving a backup of the originals checked and touted to an external hard drive. The sync cloud icon would say "unable to connect to network". I then disconnected the external hard drive and launched Lightroom Desktop again and the sync was fixed. Apparently there is some issue between the syncing process and saving a copy of the originals on an external hard drive. I am running Lightroom Desktop version 3.3
