A LR photo "Edit a Copy in Photoshop with LR Adujustments". In Photoshop add layers, then SAVE AS PSD. Photo goes back into LR with suffix -EDITED. But when that EDITED photo is again "Edit A Copy with LR Adjustments, the PSD layers have collapsed. Is there any way of having the layers saved back in LR so they can be opened later in Photoshop?

Is there a way?- Yes.
First- In Ps, NEVER use [SAVE AS]! Always [SAVE]. The file type (PSD, TIF) is set in Lr External Editor Preferences.
The file that you have EDITED in Photoshop (with layers) must now be considered as an 'Original' and you must choose [Edit Original] when you re-open the Ps image. [Edit a Copy] will do similar.
It does not seem logical, but if you have applied more Lightroom develop adjustments to the Ps image- you will not see these adjustments in the Photoshop window when you [Edit Original], BUT they (the Lr adjustments) will be automatically re-applied to the image when it returns to the Lr library.
Sometimes the Lr library may not update the Preview immediately- it may take a 'zoom' view to update. 'Old' versions of Lightroom needed a click on the topmost History step to re-apply the Lr Edits after the 'Original' came back from Ps.
