New Mac , I can't get Lightroom 6 to open so I can transfer everything to my new LR cc .

My old mac died. I have a backup but my new Mac will not run LR 6. I have LRcc but don't know if I can get my old stuff of my back up to the new Mac? I am a total ludite.
