photos not showing in lightroom photoshop

I have seen similar issues in lightroom classic on this forum, but not with the lightroom photoshop (aka the mobile one/light blue lightroom.) It is on my Macbook pro as an app. I've been using it for years, and now it suddenly won't display my photos. I can scroll through my albums and it shows the small previews/icons, but not the actual photos/photo grid/ general display. I think it has something to do with the update. I uninstalled in, updated my computer, re-installed it, updated that too, restarted my computer, etc. and it still won't display my photos. What else could the issue be?

What operating system are you running? Did you recently update to Catalina?
