Set of photos being edited in developer suddenly disappeared and are nowhere to be found.

I was working with a set of 191 photos in developer when they suddenly disappeared and are nowhere to be found. What happened? Where might they have gone? How can I search for them? I rated them but they do not come up on the rated filter. I imported them with keywords but how can I use keywords to search for them? I put a lot of hours of work into this project so I don't want to import them and start all over again. Any suggestions? Using a Mac Mini on OS Big Sur version 11.2.3.
