Trial ended message even after being told "you subscribed"

I downloaded lightroom a couple days ago, however today is the first day I actually opened it. It allows me to upload photos, but when I click to edit photos, it says "edit disabled while your trial has ended." So I click the "buy now" button, and a pop-up message says "You subscribed. Lightroom is ready for you to use." I click "ok," but nothing changes.

I have already closed and reopened the program, restarted my computer, made sure I was logged into creative cloud desktop, tried searching through posts to find the answer, and made sure my user has permission to use the app. But nothing changes. Please help. I am frustrated.
