using Lightroom and Photoshop together

I have viewed the tutorial page that shows how to "edit in Photoshop" while editing in Lightroom.

My question is which "save" option do I use if I want my Photoshop edits to save/transfer back to Lightroom?  Do I select yes when it says "Do you want to save changes to .CR2 file?" I was fearful that would permanently alter my original RAW file.

Thanks in advance!

That prompt might be a bit misleading. Photoshop cannot save anything to a CR2 file or any other raw file. When you answer "yes" Photoshop will create a new file, either a PSD or tiff image that will have the same filename as the original raw file. The raw file itself will remain unchanged, all of the adjustments you have made using Lightroom will be stored either in the catalog on your computer or in the catalog in the cloud, depending on which version of Lightroom you are using.
