Very slow migrate from classic to cc (cloud upload)

I'm trying to migrate a single Lightroom Catalog from classic to cc. The Lightroom catalog has ~53 000 photos (about 450 GB).

The migration itself seemed to work ok, but the sync to cloud is very slow. Looking at Activity Monitor, there doesn't seem to be much network traffic on upload (see attached).

More details:

• Running Macbook Pro with v10.14.2
• Speedtest.net confirms upload speed is fast (919 Mbps)
• Originals are stored on an external USB3 SSD drive

I started the sync about 24 hours ago, and it's still got 49000 images to upload.

Is there anything I can do to speed this up?
