Why is Force Eject my only option?

For the past 2 weeks it's impossible to close LR any other way. Any ideas?

Which version of Lightroom are you using and are you trying to force eject an SD card? 

I am not sure if I understand the issue correctly. Would you mind explaining what exactly is happening? 

What is the operating system and version you're working with?
